Barriers & Blessings to the Kingdom – Mark 10:17-31

Main Idea: The key to eternal life is surrendering all to Jesus and trusting God’s power to save. Sincerity isn’t the same as surrender. (v. 17-20) What you hold onto can keep you from following Jesus. (v. 21-22) Salvation is impossible through man, but possible through God. (v. 23-27) God’s Kingdom reverses earthly values and rewards true sacrifice. (v. 28-31)

Mark 10:13-16

Discipleship is the process of becoming like Jesus, so making disciples come from doing what Jesus did. Jesus fills empty hands. The Kingdom of God is for those who come to Jesus with empty hands.

Mark 9:42-50 – Four Growth Points in the Christian Life

Main Idea: True discipleship guards the spiritual well-being of others and ourselves so that we can be effective for the Kingdom of God. Protect the weak – Guard those who are vulnerable in their faith. Pursue Holiness – Remove anything that threatens your walk with Christ. Persevere Through Refinement – Embrace trials as God’s purifying work. Preserve Your Witness – Live faithfully as salt in a corrupt world.

Mark 9:38-41 – Man’s Response vs. God’s Desires

Main Idea: The kingdom of God extends far beyond our circles and cannot be confined to our circles. The problem: A narrow view of God’s work. (v. 38) The reality: God works through many. (v. 39-40) The goal: A shared commitment to God’s mission. (v. 41)
